My family and artisans I work with have been involved with carving for generation in a tradition that is passed on from father to son. From my childhood, I was taught about the basic principles of Islam the faith I follow. The carving and inlay of the Mehrab prayer niche are inspired by the architecture of the holy mosque in medina. The Hijrah exhibition project has brought me ever closer to the designs and techniques of early Islamic art and architecture. The grometry is pure and clear as it should be in such a special place. The patterns connect me the very beginning of Islam. It was an honour for all of us to make to the jail screen and Mihrab panel for the exhibition. Inspired by one of the most holy mosques in the Islamic world, was a great privilege for all of us which we will never forget.
